Despite the relentlessly grey skies I’m pretty sure we are on the way to spring. Railways are great for seeing urban wildlife and there is a lot going on at the moment. Pigeons and magpies have inundated the line as have other small birds which zip off too fast to see properly. There are also deer, rats, squirrels and feral and domestic cats.
My favourite animal at work are the foxes. I think mostly for their bravery. They are the only animal which will turn and try to face down a train. I’m always impressed when I come roaring along in what must seem like a huge monster and a little fox will stand up on the embankment and snarl at me. 🙂
